The preseason honors continue to roll in for the quarterback of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The 2017 Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, announced its preseason Watch List on Wednesday, with WKU quarterback Mike White as one of the initial 30 candidates. It is the sixth watch list honor for the senior. It is the third quarterback-specific award for which White has earned a spot on a watch list, previously being named among candidates for the Davey O’Brien Award and Johnny Unitas Award. He is also listed on the Maxwell Award, Wuerffel Trophy and Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch Lists.
The Manning Award is the only annual quarterback honor that includes candidates’ bowl performances in the balloting. The list of 10 finalists will be released Thursday, Nov. 30, with the winner announced in the week following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
