Williamsburg Awaits Girls 2nd Region All A Winner

While the Girls All A 2nd Region Tournament is a few days away from determining the team that will head to next week’s All A State Tournament, we already know who is waiting for the region’s representative in Richmond. The 13th Region played their championship game Monday night.

In that final, the Williamsburg Lady Jackets defeated Harlan 57-42 to advance on to McBrayer Arena next Wednesday for the first round in the girls tournament. Williamsburg had advanced to the final by defeating Pineville and Lynn Camp .

The Lady Jackets are 12-6 on the season. They had entered their All A regional on a four game losing streak, and losing four of their last five. Their losses have been to Pineville, twice, Bell County, Pike County Central, Paintsville, South Laurel, and Corbin.

The Lady Jackets are led by sophomore guard Lillie Hall, who averages 13.8 points per game and senior guard Kayla Gibson with 10.5 points per game. The leading rebounders are senior forward Kelsey Tye at 6.8 per game and junior forward Lillie Abbott with 5.1 boards per game.

The winner of the 2nd Region girls tourney will take on Williamsburg Wednesday afternoon at 1:00pm eastern time.
