Lady Blazer Track Team Finishes 8th at Colonel Classic

University Heights Academy’s girls’ track and field team finished eighth out of 15 teams Saturday at the Henderson County Colonel Classic.

Alli Cundiff had a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, while Sarah Covington and Sheldon Covington both notched top five finishes.

For the guys, the Blazers finished in 14th place with 16 points with Tomas Duncan and Jacori Summers bringing home top five finishes.

Here are the athletes with top 15 finishes on the day:

GIRLS

Alli Cundiff was first in the 300-meter hurdles (47.66); third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.00)
Sarah Covington was fifth in the high jump (4-6); 15th in the 100-meter hurdles (20.45)
Sheldon Covington was fifth in the shot put (29-7)
Muki Kunnmann was fifth in the 1600-meter run (5:51.05); sixth in the 3200-meter run (13:06.86)
Naliscya Hall was sixth in the shot put (29-4)
Kate Casler was ninth in the 400-yard dash (1:12.32)
Zipporah Brechwald was 11th in the 800-meter run (2:49.13)
Piper Hancock was 12th in the 800-meter run (2:50.07)
The 1600-meter relay team of Hancock, Kunnmann, Evelyn Morales, and Lily Hendricks was third (4:34.74)
The 3200-meter relay team of Brechwald, Cansler, Emerson Barlow, and Molly Bennett was third (10:47.91)

BOYS

Tomas Duncan was second in the 3200-meter run (10:32.54); fifth in the 1600-meter run (4:46.52)
Jacori Summers was fifth in the 400-meter dash (56.67); 14th in the triple jump (33-3)
