Trigg County closed out the regular season with a 4-1 win over Russellville Friday at the Complex.

The Lady Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the second on consecutive doubles by Madison Simpson and Adri Phillips.

Russellville tied the game in the fourth inning on an RBI triple by seventh grader Jaylah Kees.

Trigg County decided the game in the sixth inning with three runs. Hannah Colbert singled and scored when Autumn Durham reached on an error. Durham scored on a Phillips double, and Madison Simpson singled and came around to score on a passed ball.

Simpson finished the game with three hits, while Phillips had two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Wildcats.

Colbert pitched the first five inning and allowed one run and four hits while striking out 11. Kara Southwood got the win in relief with two innings of one-hit ball.

Trigg County finishes the regular season with a record of 21-12. The 21 wins are the most in Trigg’s fast-pitch history and equals the school record set in 1992 when the sport was slow-pitch.

The Lady Wildcats will play Livingston Central Monday in the semifinals of the Fifth District Softball Tournament at the Marion City Park in Crittenden County.
