Some days you have it. Some days you don’t.

On Tuesday, Crittenden County had it, and Trigg County didn’t as the Lady Rockets scored eight runs in the first inning on their way to a 15-1 win over the Lady Wildcats in the Fifth District softball title game. Crittenden won their second district title in four years and denied top seed Trigg County their first district crown.

The Lady Rockets started fast, scoring eight runs in the first inning on four singles, three walks, and two Trigg County errors.

Crittenden added two runs in the second, a run in the third, and scored four more runs in the fifth inning with the help of three extra base hits.

Trigg’s bats were inconsistent for the second straight game, getting just four hits off Crittenden pitcher Chandler Moss. Trigg’s lone run came in the fourth inning when Autumn Durham reached on a single and scored on an Adri Phillips double. Phillips had two hits in the game, and Kara Southwood also had a double in the game.

Jenna Potter had a triple for Crittenden County, while Ashlyn Hicks, Mattia Long, and Kaitlyn Hicks each had doubles. Ellie Smith drove in three runs with two hits.

Both Crittenden County (21-7) and Trigg County (22-13) will advance to next week’s Second Region Tournament at Madisonville. They will find out who they play Friday.
