Have you ever been to an event or a game in Rupp Arena and had the sore experience of bleacher seats in the upper levels? Following the upcoming 2018-2019 season, those bleacher seats will be no more.

Instead, per the University of Kentucky, chair-back seating and new club areas will headline the list of Rupp Arena renovations just in time for the 2019-2020 season.

While the updates will downsize the seating by roughly 3,000 (down to 20,500), if you’ve ever sat on those bleachers for a two and a half hour game, they’ll be worth the slight downsize.

The chair-back seats will be installed and replace bleacher seating in sections 211-217 and 228-234. This leaves some bleacher seating (behind each baseline) but is certainly a large improvement.

Speaking of the club sections, there will be two that are ready by the 2019-2020 season and an additional club section ready by the following season.

Per the school, club membership will not include a ticketed seat and club members may have seats throughout the arena. The school also said that season ticket holders may purchase club memberships to accompany their season ticket packages.

Prices have yet to be announced.

The renovations will knock Kentucky down from second to sixth-largest in regards to capacity, nation-wide for college baseball games.

But, again, those chair-backs and club memberships will be well worth the price of a slight downsize.
