Like many members of the first Trigg County football team, the first football game Frank Freeman saw he was playing in.
Frank was a left tackle for the first four Trigg County football teams from 1938-41. Like most players on the team, he played on both sides of the football.
He was a starter for the 1939 team that allowed just 91 points in 10 games.
He was a captain on the 1940 team that allowed just 25 points in nine games, which still ranks among the fewest points allowed in a season in state history.
Freeman’s Coach, Paul Perdue, said, “Frank is blessed with size and spirit which makes him feared by the opposition trying to block him.”
Frank was again a captain for his senior season, which included the school’s first-ever win over Russellville.
He was offered a scholarship to play football at Murray State University but turned it down to work on the family farm.
