Hill Edges Buchanan in Playoff to Win Colonel Invite

three

Madisonville’s Jackson Hill made par on the third playoff hole and defeated Christian County’s John Buchanan to win the Christian County Invitational Monday at Western Hills Golf Course.

Both golfers shot an even-par 72 and made par on the first two playoff holes.  Buchanan found the sand trap on his approach on the third playoff hole and couldn’t recover.

Buchanan settled for his second runner-up finish in four days.  He also was second at the Best of the West Invitational Friday at Mineral Mound State Park.

Colonel teammate Carson Holmes shot a 75 and finished third — his second straight top three finish.

Henderson County won the team title, bettering second place Madisonville by 16 shots.

For the Ladies, Crittenden County’s Lauren Gilchrist shot a 75 and held off a charge by Murray golfers Claire Whitaker and Delaney Welsh.

Trigg County’s Alex Ethridge was fourth.
