University Heights Academy golfer Weston Wood had the best finish of any local golfer at the Boys’ All-A Classic State Golf Tournament Saturday in Somerset.

The UHA sophomore shot an 83 to finish tied for 35th at the Eagle’s Nest Country Club. Todd County’s Nolan Barrow shot a 94.

Lexington Christian’s Jansen Preston won the event with a 69, one shot better than Owensboro Catholic’s Hayden Riney. LCA won the team title with a score of 294, 24 shots ahead of second place Campbellsville.

First region champion Livingston Central finished 14th as a team. Cam Head and Darit Barnes both shot an 84, while T-Roy Ringstaff shot a 90.

Aaron Denfip shot a 98 but did have a hole-in-one on the fourth hole.

Several coaches weren’t happy with course officials for mowing the greens after Friday’s practice round, which caused the greens to play faster during Saturday’s scoring round.
