Todd County Central’s two players in the 3rd Region Boys Golf Tournament represented themselves very well at this year’s event. Sophomore Austin Rager began his morning at 9:15 at the Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green, while senior Nolan Barrow started his day 15 minutes later.

Both golfers began their 18-hole round on the back nine of the golf course, on the east side of Bowling Green. With a humid morning, and a heavy dew, conditions were a bit on the wet side as the day got underway. Rager and Barrow both noted the conditions impacted somewhat how the course played in the early part of the day.

Rager and Barrow both battled through a couple of double bogeys in the first half of their round, Rager finishing with a 42 and Barrow just two shots behind at 44.

As the day warmed up, and the course began to dry out, Rager and Barrow improved their scores on the front nine of the golf course. Rager shot a 37 to finish at 8-over par 79, while Barrow shot a 41 to finish at 85.

Neither score was good enough to qualify for the boys state tournament. Golfers on the top two teams qualify for state competition, as well as the top three golfers not on one of the top two teams.

The individual region winner was C.M. Mixon, from South Warren, who beat out Chase Wilson, from Franklin-Simpson, in a playoff. Both shot 1-under par 70 on the day. Franklin-Simpson was the team winner in the region, shooting a 290, with none of their four scoring golfers shooting above a 75.
