Hoptown Falls to Region One Contender Calloway 5-4

Hopkinsville continued their good play against ranked soccer teams but fell short again, falling 5-4 Tuesday at Calloway County.

Christian Adams had a pair of goals for the Lakers, who have won four straight games and improved to 12-2 on the season. Calloway County’s last three wins have come against the top three teams in Region Two – Hopkinsville, Henderson County, and Madisonville. Jacob Smith also had a pair of goals, and Ty Stom had a pair of assists.

Hoptown got single goals from Ethan Noel, Ryan Roussel, Braden Casey, and Welby Horn, with Horn’s goal coming in the final minute of the game. Noel, Roussel, and Tyler Aldridge each had assists.

The Tigers have lost four games and tied one against their last five ranked opponents, getting outscored 20-12 in the process. The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Tigers (10-4), who are ranked 25th in this week’s Maher Computer Rankings. Hoptown will host a pair of Fourth Region schools this week – 26th ranked South Warren Thursday and 66th ranked Greenwood Saturday afternoon.
