Here is the final YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region boys’ soccer poll.

 

1. Henderson County Colonels (14-3-2)

Henderson County ended the regular season with a bang, going on the road to beat 17-2 McCracken County 2-0.  The Colonels also picked up a 4-0 win over Marshall County (8-1-1) in Henderson.  Up next for the Colonels is a 6th District final match on Tuesday against the winner of the Webster County (11-5-1) vs. Union County (1-14-1) semifinal.

 

1. Hopkinsville Tigers (14-4-1)

The Tigers retain their share of the top spot after winning two matches in the last week of the season.  The Tigers cruised to an 8-0 win at Trigg County (6-13), before shutting out the 10-9 Graves County Eagles 4-0 in Mayfield.  The Tigers open post-season play on Monday against the Christian County Colonels (5-13-3) at the Stadium of Champions.

 

3. Madisonville-North Hopkins (8-8-1)

The Maroons split a pair of matches in the last week of the season, losing 4-2 on the road at Apollo (12-6-1), before winning 9-2 over the Christian County Colonels (5-13-3) at the Stadium of Champions.  Madisonville awaits the winner of the 7th District semifinal between Caldwell County (8-8-1) and Hopkins County Central (8-7-1).  The 7th District final is scheduled for Thursday in Morton’s Gap.

 

4.  Webster County Trojans (11-5-1)

Webster County wrapped up its regular season with a 10-0 mercy rule win over the 1-14-1 Todd County Central Rebels, before losing 5-1 to visiting Ohio County (9-7) to end the week.  Webster hosts the 6th District Tournament and opens play against Union County (1-14-1) on Monday.

 

5. University Heights Academy Blazers (11-6-2)

The Blazers posted two more shutouts in the last week of the season, adding to their 4 game winning streak.  UHA blanked Hopkins Central 6-0 in Morton’s Gap and finished the week with a 3-0 win over the visiting Union County Braves (1-14-1).  The Blazers open 8th District play on Monday when they face Fort Campbell (4-8-1) at the Stadium of Champions.

 

6. Fort Campbell Falcons (4-8-1)

The Falcons only played one match during the final week, easily winning 11-1 over the visiting Todd County Central Rebels (1-15).  Fort Campbell will be looking to avenge a 6-5 overtime loss to the UHA Blazers when the two match-up on Monday in the first round of the 8th District Tournament.

 

7. Christian County Colonels (5-13-3)

The Colonels lost two matches last week, part of a three game losing streak to end the regular season.  The Colonels began the week with a 5-2 home loss to Warren East (8-11-1) and followed that with a 9-2 loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins (8-8-1) at the Stadium of Champions.  A match-up with top-ranked Hopkinsville (14-4-1) in the 8th District Tournament awaits on Monday.

 

8. Caldwell County Tigers (8-8-1)

Caldwell County picked up a 3-1 victory over the visiting Union County Braves (1-14-1) in their last match of the regular season, part of a 3 game win streak heading into the post-season.  The Tigers will hook-up with the Hopkins County Central Storm on Monday in the first round of the 7th District Tournament in Morton’s Gap.  The Tigers beat the Storm 3-2 in a shootout a couple of weeks ago.

 

9. Trigg County Wildcats (6-13)

The Wildcats suffered two more losses in the last week of the season, part of a 7 game losing streak heading into the post-season.  First was a 3-2 loss at the 6-12-1 Mayfield Cardinals, followed by an 8-0 home loss to top-ranked Hopkinsville.  The Wildcats play Lyon County (8-8-1) in the 5th District championship on Monday in Eddyville.

 

10. Lyon County Lyons (8-8-1)

The Lyons won 3-1 over the visiting Ballard Memorial Bombers (0-16) in their only match last week.  The Lyons will host the 5th District Tournament championship on Monday, facing off with the Trigg County Wildcats (6-13).

 

11. Hopkins County Central Storm (8-7-1)

The Storm carried a 4 game winning streak into the last week of the season, but visiting UHA (11-6-2) snapped that with a 6-0 win.  The Storm face Caldwell County (8-8-1) on Monday when they host the 7th District tournament.

 

12. Union County Braves (1-14-1)

Union County dropped all 3 of its matches last week, part of a 6 game winless streak.  The Braves lost 3-0 at Owensboro Catholic (6-10-2), 3-1 at Caldwell County (8-8-1), and 3-0 at UHA (11-6-2).  Union will play Webster County (11-5-1) on Monday in the first round of the 6th District Tournament in Dixon.
