Lyon County's Cullan Brown finished second at the KHSAA State Golf Tournament Wednesday.

The selection of the 2017 Region 1 “Golfer of the Year” will come as no big surprise to high school golf fans across the area. For the second year in a row, Lyon County’s Cullan Brown has received the honor.

Brown won the Region I title for the second straight year and finished second at the state tournament earlier this month in Bowling Green.  In the past three seasons, Brown recorded two second places and a state championship.  He was also named to the Kentucky All-State Golf Second Team this year.

Brown was joined on the All Region Team by Jay Nimmo of Marshall County, Dalton Bagwell of McCracken County, Husten Lancaster of Mayfield, Josh Roy of Graves County, Tyler Powell of Marshall County, Clayton Turnbo of McCracken County, and Tanner Hicks of Calloway County.

The announcement was made by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association
