Hopkinsville girls’ basketball coach Anthony Babb enters his third season in charge of the Lady Tigers, coming off a 23-9 season in which they won their second straight 8th District championship.  The Lady Tigers’ season ended in the second round of the 2nd Region tournament with a loss to eventual champion, Henderson County.

Babb is charged with replacing a large, seven player senior class that included leading scorer and second-leading rebounder, guard/forward Janiya Davis (15.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg), second-leading scorer and third-leading rebounder, guard Jaliyah Grubbs (12.3, 5.3), and forward Amarie Brodie (3.2, 3.9).

Junior point guard Breon Oldham is the leading returning scorer at 7 ppg, followed by senior center Zakya Stallworth (4.2), and senior point guard London Foster (4.9).  Stallworth also led the team in rebounding last year at 8.2 a game, while Oldham chipped in 2.3.  Coach Babb expects increased contributions from junior forward Jayla Rose, junior guard Yogianah McKnight, and sophomore guard Anna King, while freshman Dashiya Radford and 8th grader Donisha Flowers will figure in Babb’s plans as well.

The Lady Tigers open the season December 4 at home against Todd County Central.
