Hopkinsville Pressures Past UHA Lady Blazers 68-32

UHA's Lily Hendricks leads the Second Region in 3-point shooting percentage, knocking down over half her long-range shots.

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers picked up their 4th win of the season Tuesday night, easily rolling past University Heights 68-32. Hoptown opened the game on a 7-1 run and never looked back.

Hopkinsville led 22-8 at the end of the first quarter. The defensive pressure from the Lady Tigers caused all sorts of problems for UHA at the beginning of the game, forcing 15 turnovers in the first quarter alone.

In the second quarter, both team had their problems getting the ball in the basket. However, Hoptown got enough done to extend their lead to 42-12 at the break. UHA had 23 first half turnovers, and only five first half field goals. Breon Oldham, who had 16 first half points for the Lady Tigers, had seven field goals on her own.

Shooting woes continued for both teams in the 3rd quarter. UHA managed to outscore Hopkinville during the period 10-6 to cut the lead to 48-22 going into the final period.

Hopkinsville then worked a number of younger players into the game during the 4th period, and was able then to pull on out to the final 36 point margin.

Hopkinsville was led by Breon Oldham with 24 points. London Foster added 13, while Anna King had 10. UHA was paced by Anna Fitzpatrick and Anshanique Leavell with 8 points each.

Hoptown improves to 4-1 on the season and will take on Trigg County Thursday night. UHA falls to 2-3 and will host Caldwell County on Friday.
