Hoptown Finishes Owensboro Invitational 2-1

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers wrapped up their appearance in the Owensboro Invitational Tournament with a big win over the host Lady Red Devils. The Lady Tigers got a great defensive effort early and never looked back on the way to a 57-36 win.

Hoptown outscored Owensboro in the first quarter 11-5. The Lady Tigers then blitzed the Lady Red Devils 20-9 in the second quarter to take a 31-14 lead at the half.

Owensboro tried to battle back and cut into the lead during the 3rd quarter. However, the Lady Red Devils made very little headway, only cutting the lead to 45-29 after three. Hopkinsville’s defense then put the clamps back on the Owensoro offense, holding them to only seven points in the final quarter to seal the win.

London Foster led the Hopkinsville attack with 15 points, while Breon Oldham chipped in with 13. Owensboro was led by Tayonna Greer with 14.

Hopkinsville finishes the OIT with wins over Daviess County and Owensboro. The loss came to Henderson County in the Lady Tigers second game of the tournament. Hopkinsville goes to the Christmas break with a record of 9-3. They return to action Thursay in the FNB Holiday Bash at South Warren.
