Colonels Hammer Fort Campbell in District Showdown

Detorrion Ware dunks home two of his 13 points against Fort Campbell.

After dropping two straight games and with a huge Eighth District showdown with University Heights looming Tuesday, Christian County had to guard against a letdown Saturday against Fort Campbell. Any thoughts of a letdown quickly vanished as the Colonels jumped out to a 31-12 lead, scored 65 in the first half, and coasted to an 86-44 win over the Falcons.

The addition of Cory Trice to the Colonel press paid dividends early. Trice, who missed the first month of the season with a foot injury suffered during football season, repeatedly came up with steals and deflections and scored 12 of his 16 points in the first quarter.

Detorrion Ware scored 13 points and JaQuon Long added 10 as no Colonel starter played in the second half. Eric Brody came off the bench to score 15 points to lead the Colonels, while Damikeon Mathis scored nine points. As a team, Christian County shot 59-percent from the field.

Jordan Clark scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Falcons, who were playing their second game since Dec. 11. Cameron Johnson added 13 points. Fort Campbell (2-6) will play at Hopkins County Central Monday.

Christian County (10-5) snapped a two-game skid with the district win. They will play at UHA Tuesday night.
