The Lady Lyons jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the first quarter behind freshman forward Calista Collins’ 7 points.  Both teams struggled to find points in the second quarter, only managing 6 each.  Lyon County seemed to be in control, and took a 20-13 lead into halftime.  Collins’ 9 points led the Lady Lyons at the half, followed by junior power forward Allison Murphy’s 8.

The scoring pace increased some in the third quarter, with the Lady Comets outscoring Lyon County 12-10, narrowing the Lady Lyon lead to 30-25 heading into the final frame.  Carlisle County began the quarter on a 7-1 run to take its first lead since the first quarter at 32-31 with 5:27 to play.  With 1:47 left, senior forward Hannah Holloman fouled out and the Lady Comets knocked down two free throws to take a 40-34 lead.  From there, Carlisle finished things off from the free throw line, going 6 of 8 over the last minute and a half.  The Lady Comets outscored Lyon County 21-4 over the final eight minutes, winning 46-34.

Murphy led the Lady Lyons in points with 15, followed by Collins with 13.  Holloman finished with 6, as only three Lady Lyons got in the score book.  Collins also had 14 rebounds, leading the team, with Holloman collecting 7, and sophomore guard Kayden Watts pulling down 6.  The Lady Comets were led by junior Mollie Henderson’s 15 points, and senior Alanna Coffey’s 13.

Lyon County, 3-2 in district play, returns to their home court on Friday when they host 5th District foe Livingston Central (9-8).  The Lady Cardinals beat the Lady Lyons by 3 points at home in early December, and sit at 4-0 in district play.
