Rebels Bow Out of All “A” Regional

The Todd County Central boys’ basketball team was knocked out of the 4th Region All “A” tournament with a 72-62 loss to hosts Clinton County on Saturday night.  The loss drops the Rebels to 10-8 on the year, while Clinton County moves to 12-7, and will face Monroe County in the regional championship on Sunday.

Neither team took control in a low-scoring first quarter, with the Rebels taking an 8-7 lead after eight minutes.  However, the Bulldogs erupted in the second quarter, outscoring the Rebels 27-14 to take a 34-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.

For the Rebels, senior forward Nolan Barrow led the way with 8 points, followed by 6 each from sophomore forward Austin Rager and senior guard Tashaun Foster.  For the Bulldogs, junior point guard Jackson Harlan had 15 to lead all scorers.

The Bulldogs outscored the Rebels 20-17 in the third quarter, with Foster carrying the Rebels with 13 in the frame.  Clinton County maintained its double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rebels 21-20 and winning 72-62.  Foster led the Rebels with 19 points, followed by Barrow’s 17.  Junior center Jon Calvery got into double-digits as well with 13, and sophomore forward Austin Rager had 9, with sophomore guard DJ Johnson and junior guard Clayte Weathers closing out the scoring with 3 and 1, respectively.  For the Bulldogs, Harlan led the team with 30, including 10 in the final quarter.

Out of All “A” competition, the Rebels return to the court on Tuesday when the host the 12-6 Webster County Trojans.
