Hoptown Runs Past Todd County 81-52

For the first time all season, Hopkinsville Coach Tim Haworth was able to put the team he envisioned in the preseason on the floor for a basketball game. The result was an 81-52 win at Todd County Central Tuesday.

The Tigers got out to a quick lead and never let the Rebels get to within single digits after the first minute of the second quarter. Hoptown led 21-12 after one quarter and 40-23 at halftime.

While the Rebels continued punch back at the Tigers, Hoptown had too much firepower and took a 22-point lead after three quarters.

Jalen Johnson led Hoptown in scoring for the second straight game, scoring 22 points to pace four Tigers in double figures. Stephen Cager added 17 points, and Jacarius Burks and Bryce Smith each scored 10 points.

Jon Calvery led the Rebels with 19 points, and sophomore D.J. Johnson scored eight points.

Hopkinsville (10-11) travels to Henderson County Thursday, while Todd County (12-10) will play at Crittenden County Friday.
