Fort Campbell Taking Five Wrestlers to State Tournament

Freshman Ethan Tomerlin finished second in the 170-pound class, falling in the championship match to the state’s No. 2 wrestler Micah Ervin of Union County.

Alexei Royar qualified for the state tournament by finishing third in the 113-pound class with a 6-3 decision over Caldwell County’s James Jones.

Jesus Avila took fourth place in the 195-pound class winning two matches before falling to McCracken County’s Logan Deasel in the third place match.

Justin Wilson also took fourth place, losing a 7-4 decision to McCracken County’s Blakley Miller in the third place match.

Joining them at the state tournament will be Darion Dunn, who finished fourth in the 285-pound class.

Brock Sharp finished sixth in the 106-pound class but did not qualify for state tournament.

As a team, Fort Campbell finished sixth with 76 points.

The KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament will be Friday and Saturday in Lexington.
