Barrow & Calvery Lead Rebels to 13th District Title Game (w/PHOTOS)

The Todd County Central Rebels used a strong third quarter performance from big man John Calvery to advance on to the 13th District championship game. The Rebels advanced by virtue of their 57-43 win over the Russellville Panthers Tuesday night at Logan County High School.

The Rebels took advantage of some early free throw opportunities in the contest to get to the front in the contest. Todd County would lead the Panthers 13-9 after the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Nolan Barrow played a huge role for Todd County. Barrow scored 11 points in the second quarter, as the Rebels held off a charge from the Panthers and took a 27-26 lead into the break.

With Russellville right at the door as the second half began, it was time for the Calvery, more specifically John Calvery to come to the rescue. Calvery scored 8 points in the 3rd quarter, and the Rebels were able to pull the lead out to nine points at 41-32 when the quarter ended.

The Rebels, with another big quarter from Nolan Barrow, were then able to pull the lead on out to the final fourteen point margin.

Barrow led the Rebels with 27 points, while John Calvery added 12. Devin Quarles was the only Panther to reach double figures with 12 points.

The Rebels improve their record to 17-12 and will advance on to Friday night’s championship game against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats.
