Heritage Christian’s Season Ends in KCAA Quarterfinals

3-2-fowler

Highlands Latin jumped out to a 15-5 lead and had an answer for every Heritage Christian Academy run as they ended the Warriors’ season 69-51 in the quarterfinals of the KCAA State Tournament at Asbury University.

Highlands was the No. 3 seed in the tourney and split their regular season games with HCA, the No. 11 seed who upset No. 6 Somerset Christian to advance to the quarterfinals.

Heritage Christian Academy twice had a chance to get the deficit into single digits but costly turnovers led to Highlander points. Peter Schwab added insult to injury by nailing a 28-foot 3-pointer at the halftime horn for a 39-24 lead.

Gavin Fowler scored 15 of his team-high 26 points in the first half. He fouled out with 4:02 left and Heritage trailing 64-45.

Highlands opened the third quarter on a 10-3 run and put the game away, outscoring the Warriors 20-9 in the frame.
Dakota Brake and Dalton Folz each scored eight points for the Warriors.

Ben Lange had 25 points, and Sam Bush added 19 points for Highlands Latin, located in Louisville.

Heritage Christian Academy’s season ends with a record of 13-17 overall and 2-10 against KCAA teams this season. The Warriors lose one senior, Kam Cunningham, to graduation.
