Lady Rebels Fall in Scrimmage at Hart County

The Todd County Central Lady Rebels hit the road Friday evening for their only preseason softball scrimmage. Hart County scored eight runs over the final three innings to pick up the unofficial 12-6 win in Munfordville.

Todd County got on the board first in the scrimmage, plating five runs in the top of the second inning. After two walks and a hit batter to open the inning, Rachael Bilyeu drove in Emma Harris with an infield single. With the bases still loaded after two strikeouts, Addye Sawyers hit a double to left field, clearing the bases to make the score 4-0. Jordan Weathers then hit a two out double to drive in Sawyers to extend the lead to 5-0.

Hart County came up with four runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 5-4. Things stayed that way until the bottom of the 5th when Hart County came up with a run to tie the game at 5-5.

The Lady Raiders scored four more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 9-5 lead. Two extra base hits and a Lady Rebels error were big factors in the inning.

In the top of the 7th inning, Todd County got a double from Emma Harris, followed by a single by Whitney Higgins. Harris would score on a ground out by Rachael Bilyeu to cut the lead to 9-6.

Hart County finished out the scrimmage by adding three more runs in the bottom of the 7th.

Rachael Bilyeu was 1-3 with 2 RBIs for Todd County. Addye Sawyers was also 1-3 and drove in three runs. Whitney Higgins and Jordan Weathers had two hits apiece for the Lady Rebels. Maddie Williams went the distance in the circle for Todd County, giving up 11 earned runs, striking out six, and walking four.

Todd County will open the 2018 season March 19, when they host Bowling Green.
