Hoptown Track Teams Claim Top-5 Finishes at Laker Invite

Meghan Easton won the 800-meter run at the Calloway County Laker Invitational

Hopkinsville’s track and field teams both brought home top-five finishes Saturday at the Laker Track Invitational hosted by Calloway County.

The girls finished fourth with 75 points. Carbondale won with 95 points, followed by McCracken County (83) and Paducah Tilghman (82).

The boys finished fifth with 59 points. Marshall County easily won the meet with 156 points, followed by Paducah Tilghman (104), Carbondale (65), and Murray (63).

Here are Hoptown’s top 10 finishers at the meet:

BOYS

Keion Brown won the 400-meter dash (51.56)
Chase Atkins won the 1500-meter run (4:43.98); and was third in the 3000-meter run (10:14.11)
JeVon Leavell was fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.37); fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.16)
Deseandre Green was seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.45)
Cameron Bussell was eighth in the 400-meter dash (56.05)
Korbyn Newsome was eighth in the 800-meter run (2:22.94)
Kyren Palmer was sixth in the long jump (17-02.50) and was ninth in the 200-meter dash (25.51)
Josh Mallory was ninth in the discus throw (95-04)
Mitchell Degenhardt was tenth in the 200-meter dash (25.61)
Max DuBois was tenth in the 3000-meter run (11:46.39)
The 400-meter relay team was fourth (45.51)
The 800-meter relay team took first place (1:39.55)

GIRLS

Meghan Easton won the 800-meter run (2:32.01)
Jakayla McSwain was second in the 200-meter dash (26.63) and third in the 100-meter dash (13.37)
Yogi McKnight was fourth in the long jump (14-06) and fourth in the triple jump (31-07.25)
Allison Wood was fourth in the 1500-meter run (5:38.91); sixth in the 3000-meter run (12:58.41)
Breon Oldham was sixth in the 100-meter dash (14.01)
Tajayha Miller was sixth in the long jump (14-03.75) and seventh in the triple jump (29-06.75)
Natavia Crossley was sixth in the high jump (4-4)
Dashiya Radford was eighth in the high jump (4-0)
Anna Lee was eighth in the 3000-meter run (14:26.03)
The 1600-meter relay team (4:17.98) and the 800-meter relay team (1:55.19) both took first place.
