Caldwell County Finishes Tennessee Trip Unbeaten

Caldwell County put up crooked numbers in two innings and made it stand up in a 9-5 win over Eastside, Virginia Friday in the final game of the Chop House Classic in Kingsport, Tenn. The Tigers went 3-0 on the trip and improved their record to 8-2 on the season.

Caldwell scored five runs in the third inning on a two-run single by Shane Burns and RBI single by Bryce Thomas. Burns and Thomas later scored after tagging up on the same pop out in foul territory at the spacious Hunter Wright Stadium, home of the Kingsport Mets.

With the game tied 5-5 in the top of the sixth inning, Caldwell struck for four more runs. Jase Felker doubled home three runs to center and later scored on a single by Burns.

Felker, Burns, and Thomas each had two hits for the Tigers, who also coaxed eight walks in the game.

Noah Brown pitched the final four innings to get the win for Caldwell. He gave up three hits and no earned runs while striking out one.

Caldwell County will look to defend their Second Region All-A Classic title when they play Crittenden County Monday.
