A strong pitching peformance from McGill-Toolen’s Spencer Hadley was too much for the Christian County Colonels to overcome Friday. Hadley handcuffed the Colonel batters, holding Christian County to one hit, as McGill-Toolen cruised to a 9-0 win in the USA Classic in Memphis.

Hadley struck out seven Colonels and walked only one over the seven innings. He was also efficient, throwing only 81 pitches in the contest.

The game was close throughout the early going. In fact, Christian County’s L Duiguid and Hadley were in a scoreless duel until the Yellow Jackets scored a run in the bottom of the 4th and another in the bottom of the 5th.

McGill-Toolen put the game away in the bottom of the 6th, scoring seven runs. They put together five hits, along with three walks and a hit batter from Christian County pitching.

Lane Duiguid picked up the lone Colonel hit, going 1-3 in the game. Duiguid also went 5 1/3 on the mound, giving up five runs on seven hits, striking out five, and walking three. Austin Fields and Bryson Brown both pitched in the bottom of the 6th inning for Christian County.

The loss was the 4th in a row for Christian County.
