4-10-fields

In a game that featured nine walks, eight errors, and just five singles combined, Christian County did just enough to grab a 6-4 win from Trigg County Tuesday at the Complex.

Christian County scored three first inning runs on a pair of bases loaded walks, a Trigg error and a single by Cameron Crider.

Trigg County answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame when Trevor Cortner reached on an error and scored on a Savion Radford sacrifice fly. Hayden Cunningham singled to right, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a dropped fly ball by Christian County. Austin Fields then settled down for Christian County on the mound, retiring nine of the next 11 batters he faced.

The Colonels added three runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Wyatt Stevenson, an error on a stolen base, and an RBI single by Crider.

Trigg’s final two runs came on a Christian County throwing error and an RBI ground out by Micah Brown. Fields struck out five and walked one for the Colonels in four and a third innings. None of Trigg’s four runs were earned.

Tyler Ladd took the loss for Trigg, allowing three hits in four innings with six strikeouts. Arlon Butts pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

Trigg County (4-3) was scheduled to play Stewart County Wednesday, but the Rebels canceled the game on Trigg late Tuesday. The Wildcats will play Crittenden County in a doubleheader Friday in Marion.

Christian County (3-6) plays at Hopkinsville Thursday in the first of a home-and-home with the Tigers.
