Caldwell County Slugs Their Way Past Dawson Springs to All A Regional Softball Title

To say that the Caldwell County Lady Tigers dominated the 2nd Region All A Classic softball tournament might be a bit of an understatement. Caldwell County capped off a championship run with a 23-0 win over Dawson Springs Thursday night at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.

Over their three games in the regional tournament, Caldwell County scored 51 runs, while not giving up a single run over 17 innings of play.

As if the big bats of Caldwell County were not enough for the Lady Panthers to have to overcome, Katie Franklin was perfect in the circle Thursday evening. Franklin gave up no hits, no walks, and struck out 13 on her way to the win.

The Lady Tigers scored six runs in the first, one in the second, six in the third, and then 10 more in th 5th inning to cruise to the All A Regional title.

Franklin was 3-5 with an RBI. Mashea Glover was 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Emma Staples went 3-3 with 3 RBIs. And, Peyton Young was 4-5 with 3 RBI’s for Caldwell County.

Caldwell County improves to 4-1 on the season with their fourth win in a row, and will now head off to the All A Classic state tournament, which is April 28-29 at Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro. The Lady Tigers will begin pool play at 10:30am on April 28th, when they take on the Russellville Lady Panthers. In addition to Russellville and Caldwell County, Pool C will have the champions of Region 7 and Region 11.

The winner and runnerup from each of the four pools will then advance to the single elimination championship bracket on Sunday morning April 29.
