Livingston Central’s Braxton Bebout and University Heights Academy’s Drew McGowan locked in a pitchers dual Thursday, but a three-run first inning was all the Cardinals needed in their 4-1 win over the Blazers in Smithland.

Cameron Dean doubled home the first run of the game with two more scoring on an error and passed ball.

Dean added another RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead.

UHA’s lone run came in the sixth inning when McGowan singled, stole second, was sacrificed to third and scored on a Dan Johnson’s single.

Johnson finished with two hits for the Blazers, and Luke Welch added a double.

Bebout allowed five UHA hits and struck out nine for Livingston Central (7-3).

McGowan also allowed five hits and struck out nine while walking none.

UHA (5-6) will host Christian County Monday.
