Lady Blazer Rally Comes Up Just Short in Loss to Livingston

Livingston Central got out to an early big lead, but then had to hold on tight at the end against the UHA Lady Blazers Friday in Smithland. The Lady Cardinals were able to pick up their first win of the season, edging the Lady Blazers 7-6.

Livingston took advantage of three walks and three hit batters in the bottom of the first inning to score six runs and take a 6-0 lead.

After getting a one out single in the top of the 3rd inning, UHA’s Rachael Snyder would score on a Regan Pollard double to trim the lead to 6-1.

In the top of the 5th, Anna Fitzpatrick led off the inning with a single and then later scored on a ground out to make it 6-2 Livington Central. Livington Central added a run in the bottom of the 6th with two outs, on a steal of home, to make it a 7-2 game, and that run turned out to be HUGE.

The Lady Blazers then mounted a furious rally in the top of the 7th, one that nearly brought them all the way back.

Fitzpatrick led off the inning with a single. Snyder followed with an RBI triple to make it 7-3. The next two batters for UHA struck out, and it looked like the Lady Cardinals had the game in hand.

Following a walk to Lydia Humphries, Breanna Daniel and Bailey Vier followed with RBI singles, and the lead was at 7-5.

However, the threat, and the game ended with a groundout to the pitcher to end the game.

Fitzpatrick and Daniel each had three hits for UHA, while Snyder had two hits and two RBIs.  Pollard also had a pair of hits for the Lady Blazers, who return to action Monday when they host Calloway County.

The loss dropped UHA to 1-5 on the season.
