Anglers Find the Fishing Tough at Region 1 Tournament

Anglers found the fishing difficult at the KHSAA Region 1 Bass Fishing Region Tournament Saturday on Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake.

Calloway County’s Myles McManus and Ethan Tidwell easily won the region title with five fish weighing 20-pounds, 11-ounces – over nine pounds more than second place Chase Laslie and Jared Laslie.

Only seven teams managed to catch more than 10 pounds of fish Saturday. Last year, 24 teams managed to catch over 10 pounds of fish at the region tournament. There were 46 teams that presented fish to be weighed Saturday, compared to 58 teams last year.

Trigg County did have one team qualify for next month’s state tournament. Andrew Greene and Anthony Ethridge caught three fish weighing 7-pounds, 14-ounces.  Greene will be making his second appearance at the state fishing tournament.  He finished ninth last year.

Marshall Evans and Tyson Bush finished 22nd with six-pounds, and 12 ounces. Chase Oglesby and Brock Sandbrink finished 39th with three pounds and six ounces.

Christian County’s top teams were the duos of Chance Glass and Emily Lee, and Harley Schamp and Kathrine Shelton. They caught four pounds and 11 ounces to finish 31st.
