Two Arrowcats Bring Home Top 10 Finishes at State Tourney

Trigg County had a pair of archers finish in the top 10 at the KHSAA State Archery Tournament Thursday in Lexington.

Freshman Audrey Smith led Trigg County by shooting a 291, good for ninth place in the state. Her sister Kaylin shot a 286 to finish 40th.

As a team, Trigg County shot a score of 1,953 to finish in 11th place. Simon Kenton won the girls’ state title with a score of 1,992. Muhlenberg County was second with 1,985.

This year marked the first time the KHSAA split the state tournament by gender. In the past, a combination of scores from boys and girls determined the state champion.

Freshman Emmaline Kleinman won the state title with a score of 297. Holly Snow of Simon Kenton and Sabrina Kostenbader of Anderson County shot a 293 to tie for second place.

On the boys’ side, Garrett Knight shot a 292 to finish in sixth place to lead Trigg County. Cole Joyce shot a 287 to finish 52nd.

As a team, Trigg County finished in ninth place with 1,992 points. Bullitt Central won the state title with 2,030 points. Madison Central was second with 2,023 points.

Anderson County’s Henry Thompson and Henderson County’s Dalton Hinkle both had the high score of the day with a 299.
