Hoptown Softball Falls to Logan County

Hopkinsville lost 16-0 in three innings to the visiting Logan County Lady Cougars on Friday night.  The loss is the Lady Tigers sixth in a row, dropping them to 4-13 on the year.  Logan County claims its second win of the season against Hoptown, improving to 9-4 overall.

The Lady Cougars homered on consecutive pitches with no outs in the first inning and never looked back, leading 9-0 after the opening frame.  They went on to add 4 more in the second and 3 in the third to end the game by the 15-run rule.

Sophomore Lauren Hodge took the loss, pitching 3.0 innings and surrendering 16 runs, 7 earned, on eleven hits with a couple of strikeouts and five walks.  Sophomore Marley Hancock, juniors Sebrina Hodge and Nadia Clayton, and 7th grader Shaniya Straight each had a hit for the Lady Tigers.

Freshman Abby Hinton worked 3.0 innings for the win, scattering four hits and walking one.  8th grader Shelby Gettings went 2-3 and drove-in 3 for the Lady Cougars, and freshman Kaylin Page and sophomore Sydney Lee each collected two hits and 2 RBI.

The Lady Tigers go on the road on Saturday, heading to Tompkinsville to face the 12-6 Monroe County Lady Falcons.
