Hoptown Slide Continues in 3-1 Loss to Maroons

5-3-hoptown

Hopkinsville dropped their sixth straight game of the season Thursday but showed signs of snapping it soon in a 3-1 loss to Madisonville.

A pair of infield errors led to all three Maroon runs. Cole Lawrence singled home two runs in the fourth inning, and Ethan Browning added an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Hopkinsville’s lone run came in the seventh inning when Dalton Bearns reached on an error, advanced to third and scored on a Robert Justus sacrifice fly.

Justus pitched a complete game, allowing just six Madisonville singles and striking out five. He didn’t walk anyone and allowed just one earned run.

Justus, Landon Snyder, and Ryan Myers had Hopkinsville’s three hits.

Browning had two hits for Madisonville (14-8), and Blake Reynolds picked the pitching win.

Hopkinsville (7-13) will host Marshall County Friday.
