Lady Colonels Tighten Grip on #1 in YSE 2nd Region Softball Super 7

With better weather, the pace of activity has picked up on the softball diamonds across the area. Hard to believe, but we are now in the final two weeks of the regular season.

1 – Christian County (23-3-1) – Since their second loss of the season to Sparkman, the Lady Colonels have ripped off nine in a row, including a big win over Madisonville. Interesting to see if the tough games against Trigg and North Oldham are hangover from the win over the Lady Maroons.

2 – Madisonville (11-4) – The Lady Maroons have lost three of their last four. Now let’s qualify that by saying the losses are to Daviess County, Christian County, and Marshall County. The return matchup with Christian County is set for Thursday.

3 – Caldwell County (10-7) – The Lady Tigers lost two one run games to 1st Region teams, and then thumped Tilghman. They are set to get their shot at Christian County Tuesday.

4 – Webster County (10-6-1) – The Lady Trojans picked up wins over McLean County and a pretty good Ohio County team. Still a team to be considered a dark horse in the region.

5 – Trigg County (15-10) – The Lady Wildcats were shutout by Calloway County, then shutout Lyon County, and then played the socks off Christian County before losing in extra innings.

6 – Henderson County (6-10) – The Lady Colonels could be the best 6-10 team in the state. Their schedule has been brutal. They did pick up a win in the past week over Franklin-Simpson, and took Hancock County to extra innings.

7 – Crittenden County (14-6) – Not the best of weeks for the Lady Rockets, but at this point, nobody below them has made a strong argument to move them out of the last spot in the Super 7.
