After a heart-breaking loss to Somerset in the All-A Classic State Tournament Sunday, Caldwell County appeared to suffer some after-effects Monday in a 7-6 loss at Union County.

The Tigers committed a season-high seven errors that led to four unearned runs and only managed six hits against three different Brave hurlers.

Things started well for the Tigers as Jase Felker cranked a three-run home run to right field before the Braves recorded an out.

Union County scored the next seven runs to take a 7-3 lead before the Tigers began to chip away at the deficit. Shane Burns walked to lead off the sixth inning, stole second and scored on a Bryce Thomas single. Thomas would steal second and later score on a Union County error to help the Tigers pull to within 7-5.

In the seventh, Felker ripped a one-out triple to center and scored on a Dylan Gray single. The Caldwell rally would be short-lived as the final two Tigers would strikeout to end the threat.

Felker and Gray each had two hits for the Tigers, who have lost consecutive games for the first time this season.

Union County improved to 10-16 with the win. 12 of the last 14 games Union County has played have been decided by one run. The Braves are 3-9 in those one-run games, one of which was a 7-6 extra inning loss to the Tigers on April 20.

Caldwell County (17-5) will host Hopkins County Central Tuesday in a 7th District contest at the VFW Park.
