Lady Rebels Roll to Senior Night Victory

The Todd County softball team used a 6-run, two-out rally in the second inning to take control against McLean County Friday night, going on to win 12-2 in five innings.  It was Senior Night in Elkton, with Michaela Robertson and Addye Sawyers honored on the field after the win.  The Lady Rebles have won two of three to move to 8-9 overall, with the Lady Cougars dropping their twelfth straight to drop to 2-13.

Emma Harris had a first-inning RBI double to get the Lady Rebels started, and they led 2-1 after McLean got one back in the top of the second.  Todd County starter Haylee Vass yielded three doubles in the frame, but worked out of trouble with a strikeout and a fly ball.

In the bottom of the third, Jordon Weathers began a two-out rally with a triple to score 2, before RBI singles by Robertson and Rachel Bilyeu with a run-scoring double from Whitney Higgins in-between.  Todd County got another run in each of the third and fourth innings for a 10-2 lead, with Robertson capping her senior night with a 2-run double to end the game.

Vass had a strong performance for the win, pitching 5.0 innings while allowing 2 runs on four hits with a couple of strikeouts.  Robertson was 4-4 with 3 RBI, with Jordon Weathers going 2-4 with 2 RBI, and Higgins Bilyeu also driving-in 2.  Harris had two hits and an RBI, Sawyers knocked-in a run, and Samantha Case and Paige Rager each had a hit.

Karissa Fannon took the loss for the Lady Cougars, pitching 2.0 frames and allowing 8 runs, 2 earned, on eight hits with a strikeout and a walk.  Ashley Vaught was 2-2 with an RBI.

Todd County go on the road on Saturday to Glasgow to face the 11-9 Lady Scotties.
