Christian County Fares Well at Region Track Meet

Christian County qualified several individuals for next week’s Class 3A state meet after they finished in the top two at the Region I Meet Friday in Paducah.  The Colonels and Lady Colonels have several that must wait and see if they are among the next 10 statewide to get a qualifying berth.

The Lady Colonels finished seventh with 38 points, while the Colonels were ninth with 12 points.

BOYS

K’Ron Sherald finished second in the 400-meter dash (51.43) and was eighth in the 200-meter dash (24.27)
Kenyon Drayton was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (45.39)
John Banks finished eighth in the 100-meter dash (11.64) and 14th in the 200-meter dash (25.09)
Antonio Abren finished 11th in the 100-meter dash (12.04)
Ethan Dooley was 12th in the 300-meter hurdles (47.64)
Hasai Powell was ninth in the shot put (36-02.50) and 15th in the discus throw (81-08)
Dasean Dunham was 18th in the 800-meter run (2:29.87)
The 400-meter relay team of TyShawn Banks, Johns Banks, Abren, and Sherald finished fourth in a time of 44.97.

GIRLS

Ariyonna Johnson was third in the long jump (15-00.25)
Autumn Bell was third in the 400-meter dash (1:02.42)
Ashanti Banks finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.73)
Cierra Ward finished fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.46)
Jameisha Mack was fifth in the discus throw (96-08)
Eniya McGee was 10th in the long jump (13-06.50)
Olivia Bostick was 11th in the 800-meter run (2:45.34)
Zaria Sharber was 11th in the triple jump (28-02)
Alaysia Sells was 13th in the 100-meter dash (13.92)
Arianna Cushenberry was 15th in the discus throw (63-01)
Amelia Riddick was 16th in the shot put (21-10.50)
Christian County’s 400-meter relay team of Ward, McGee, Johnson, and Bell won in a time of 50.92 and automatically qualified for the state meet.
The 1600-meter relay team of Banks, Johnson, McGee, and Bell finished second in a time of 4:14.21 and will also qualify for next week’s state meet.
