Lady Wildcats’ Win Clinches District Top Seed (w/PHOTOS)

The Trigg County softball team rolled to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Livingston Central on Monday night, earning the top seed in the 5th District tournament for the first time in program history.  The Lady Wildcats have won five of six to move to 20-11, while the Lady Cardinals slip to 2-14.

The Lady Wildcats posted 5 first-inning runs, using two Livingston errors and and RBI triple by Kara Southwood and a run-scoring single from Abby Terrell.  Southwood was back at it in the second, doubling in a run as Trigg added 2 more for a 7-0 lead.

Trigg’s 8th run came in the fourth, with Hannah Colbert coming home on a sacrifice fly by Autumn Durham.  The Lady Wildcats closed the show in the bottom of the fifth, with an RBI triple by Phelan Dossett accounting for the 9th run, before Dossett came home on a Logan Darnall ground-out for the final 10-0 score.

Colbert shredded the Lady Cardinals’ lineup, striking-out fourteen of the fifteen batters she faced in five perfect innings.  Colbert, Southwood, and Ashlyn Keller each had two hits, with Southwood driving-in 2 and Colbert 1.  Abby Terrell knocked-in 2, followed by Darnall, Durham, and Dossett with an RBI each.  Adri Phillips had a hit and scored a run.

Madison Bolte took the loss for Livingston Central, working 4.2 innings while allowing 10 runs, 3 earned, on ten hits with a couple of strikeouts.

The Lady Wildcats go on the road on Tuesday to face the 20-8 Marshall County Lady Marshalls.
