Hopkins Central Wins Madisonville Invitational

Perfect weather and difficult greens conditions were the order of the day Saturday, as the Hopkins Central Storm came away with the team title at the Madisonville Invitational golf tournament. A total of 13 teams competed for the team trophy, while a total of 16 schools were represented at the event.

The Storm finished 1st with a team score of 326. Daviess County finished 2nd with a score of 333. And, Ohio County came in 3rd place with a total of 343. Hopkinsville ended the tournament with a team score of 395. UHA shot a team score of 401. Christian County only had three golfers in the tournament and was not in competition for the team trophy.

In the individual competition, Madisonville’s Jackson Hill had the low score with a round of 74. Daviess County’s Jesse Holton finished in 2nd with a 75. Hopkins Central’s T. Sanchez also shot a 75 but lost out in thetie breaker to Holton to finish in 3rd. Trey Lewis, of Ohio County, finished his round at 76, good enough for 4th place. And, Grant Puckett, of Webster County, finished in 5th after completing his round with a score of 76, but losing the tiebreaker to Lewis.
