Lyon County Post 68 advanced in the American Legion Southeast Regional Baseball Tournament with a 5-3 win over Tallahassee (FL) Post 13 Thursday in Asheboro, NC.
Cameron Dean (Livingston Central) had two hits and three RBIs for the Aces, while Gabe Board (Lyon County) had two hits and picked up the save on the mound with two scoreless innings of relief. Connor Guthrie (Mayfield) also had three singles and scored three times.
Dean’s two-run double in the first inning staked Post 68 to a 2-0 lead. He added an RBI single in the third inning followed by a bases loaded walk issued to M Thomason for a 4-0 lead.
Tallahassee pulled to within 4-3 with two runs in the sixth inning, but Lyon County was able to get out of the bases loaded, no-out jam with the lead intact.
Jase Ryan Felker (Caldwell County) got the pitching win, allowing three earned runs and five hits in five innings.
Lyon County Post 68 will play Randolph (NC) Post 45 Friday night in a showdown of the last two unbeatens in the double-elimination tournament.
