The run for Lyon County Post 68 at the American Legion Southeast Regional came to an end Saturday with a 7-0 loss to Troy (Ala.) Post 70. Post 68 ended in a tie for third place at the event.
Lyon County was limited to five hits in the game by Cole Smith, who pitched a complete game and struck out four.
The game was scoreless into the fourth inning when Troy scored once and added three runs in both the fifth and seventh innings.
Noah Brown suffered the pitching loss for Post 68, allowing five hits and three earned runs in five innings.
Randolph County (NC) Post 45, who beat Lyon County in the winner’s bracket Friday, edged Troy 3-2 for the championship Sunday and will advance to the American Legion World Series.
Lyon County Post 68 ends their season with a record of 21-11.
