The lone two boys’ soccer teams in the 5th District met at the Recreation Complex in Cadiz on Tuesday night, with the Trigg County Wildcats shutting out the Lyon County Lyons 6-0.  The Wildcats improve to 3-0, while the Lyons drop their second in a row to slip to 1-3 overall.

The Lyons forced an early save from Wildcat goalkeeper Matthew Smith, but neither team could break through until Trigg sophomore Will Jolly scored on a free kick with just over twelve minutes until the break.

The Wildcats took a 1-goal lead into the second half, before freshman Daniel Jimenez scored off an assist from Elijah Gaines to double the lead.  Jimenez was back at it ten minutes later when he headed home off a corner kick from Cristian Llarena.  Gaines tacked on 2 more goals over the last fifteen minutes for the 6-0 win.  Smith made 1 save in goal to earn the win for the Wildcats.

Next up for the Wildcats is a bus ride to Dixon on Thursday to face the 3-3 Webster County Trojans.  Lyon County makes the long trip to Ballard Memorial on Thursday to meet the 0-8 Bombers.
