Lady Falcons Edge Past Trigg in Defensive Battle

Trigg County knew their offense was in trouble when leading scorer Madisen Ireland went down with an ankle injury against Lyon County this week that will sideline her for two weeks. The Lady Wildcat defense stepped up their game and held Fort Campbell to one goal. Unfortunately, it was the only goal of the game in a 1-0 Lady Falcon win in Cadiz.

Julia Rhone saved 13 shots in goal for the Lady Wildcats, while Fort Campbell’s Hannah Salas was equal to the task with 12 saves. The difference in the match was Fort Campbell senior defender Jasmine Ward who used her speed to minimize Trigg County’s breakaway chances.

The lone goal of the match came in the 56th minute when Hannah Eastes fed Kaitlyn Cervantes who found the corner of the net for her eighth goal of the season. Trigg County only had two shots the final 20 minutes of the game.

Fort Campbell won their second straight match and moved above .50 with a 3-2 record. They will play at Paducah Tilghman Tuesday.

Trigg County dropped to 2-6 with the loss and is scheduled to play at Todd County Central Tuesday. Todd County was forced to cancel their Thursday match with Lyon County due to the inability to secure officials for the contest.
