The Webster County boys’ soccer team used two goals in each half and a strong defensive effort to hand the Trigg County Wildcats their first loss of the season Thursday night in Dixon.  The Trojans notch their first shutout of the season to improve to 4-3, while the Wildcats slip to 3-1.

The Trojans’ Jorge Martinez opened the scoring twelve minutes in when he pounced on a loose ball after a corner kick and scored past Wildcat goalkeeper Matthew Smith.  With less than five minutes left in the half, Dawson McVay doubled the Trojan’s lead for a 2-0 advantage at the break.

McVay found the back of the net again eleven minutes into the second half, before Joel McCormick wrapped up the scoring with a counter-attack goal for a 4-0 lead.  The game was called with fifteen minutes remaining after two Wildcats suffered serious injuries.

Trigg County will return to the field on Tuesday when the Christian County Colonels (4-3) visit the Recreation Complex in Cadiz.
