9-9-west

Thomas West scored five goals and became the all-time leading scorer in program history as Heritage Christian Academy beat North Hardin Christian 11-1 Friday at Warrior Field.

West, a junior, has 56 career goals and eclipsed the former mark set by 2012 HCA graduate Joe Alvarado.

Mati Venable added a pair of goals for HCA, while Kayley Wadlington, Lucas Hite, Jess Bufford, and Ryan Trapnell each scored once as the Warriors set a season high in goals.

On Saturday, HCA appeared on their way to their second straight win, but Trinity Christian scored three times in the final 20 minutes to stun the Warriors for a 6-5 win.

Lawson Ashby scored four goals, and Ryan Trapnell added one.

Trapnell’s goal off an assist from Trenton Hayes put HCA ahead 5-3 with 28 minutes left. Trinity scored three times in a 16-minute span, including the game-winner with four minutes left.

Heritage Christian (3-4) slipped to 1-3 in KCAA play with two of the losses coming by a single goal in the final four minutes of the match. The Warriors will try and add a KCAA win to their slate Friday when they travel to Jeffersontown to play the Academy for Individual Excellence.
