UHA Falls in Consolation Semifinals at All A State Volleyball

The UHA Lady Blazers saw their trip to the All A Classic state volleyball tournament come to an end in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the tournament Saturday afternoon in Richmond. UHA was eliminated in a two set loss to 1st Region champion Christian Fellowship.

The morning Saturday began for UHA with a match against Washington County in the final game of pool play. The winner of the match was guaranteed a berth in the championship bracket and the opportunity to play for the state title. The Commanderettes derailed the Lady Blazers title hopes, winning the match in straight sets.

Washington County took the opening set 25-16. The Lady Blazers made a battle of it in the second set but came up just short, falling 25-21.

With the loss, UHA fell into the consolation bracket of the tournament. Their first match in the bracket found UHA taking on Oneida Baptist. The Lady Blazers took control of the match quickly, winning the opening set 25-12. Evelyn Morales went on a 13 point serving run to close out the set.

The second set was a bit more of a battle, but UHA was able to close it out 25-20 to advance on to the consolation bracket semifinals. UHA was led at the net by Meghan Adams with six kills, Katie Beth Stevens added three.

In the consolation semifinals, the Lady Blazers squared off against Christian Fellowship. Both teams had to be a little leg weary going into the match, as it was their 5th match in less than 24-hours. Both sets were fairly tightly contested. Christian Fellowship won the opening set 25-19. The Lady Blazers battled hard to stay alive in the second set, before falling 25-21.

UHA goes 2-3 on the weekend, moving their record to 13-5 on the season.
