Todd Central Knocks Off Hancock County for District Win

The Todd Central Rebels got the district portion of their schedule off to a good start Friday night. The Rebels upended Hancock County with a strong second half defensive performance to pick up the 27-20 win in a back and forth contest.

The Rebels got on the board first when Jaquavion Mimms ran it in from three yards out to put Todd Central up 7-0.

The Hornets came right back scoring on a 30 yard touchdown to go up 8-7. Another 30 yard touchdown would enable Hancock County to extend the lead out to 14-7.

The Rebels responded with a 14 yard run from JaTwan Graham to cut the lead to 14-13. Todd Central’s defense then put them in front when Nathan Carroll came up with a pick six to put the Rebels back in front at 19-14.

Hancock County would go to the locker room with the lead after the Hornets scored on a two yard run late in the second quarter to make it 20-19 at the half.

In the second half, the Rebels’ defense stepped it up, shutting out Hancock County for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, Todd Central scored the winning run on a long touchdown from D.J. Johnson to make the final score 27-20.

The Rebels up their overall mark to 4-2, and go to 1-0 in district play.
