On a night where the UHA Lady Blazers honored their seniors, it was the Lady Maroons from Madisonville who ended up stealing the show. In an epic five set battle, Madisonville pulled off the upset, stunning the Lady Blazers on their home court.

The first set was a good indicator of what was to come over the course of the evening. Madisonville took the opening set, edging out the Lady Blazers 25-23.

In the second set, it was UHA’s turn to win a tight one. The Lady Blazers evened the match at 1-1, winning the second set 25-21.

The third set was a classic. Madisonville outlasted UHA 27-25 to take a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set.

With their backs against the walls, the Lady Blazers stormed right back to even the match up. UHA steamrolled the Lady Maroons in the 4th set 25-11 to even the match up at 2-2, and appear to take firm grasp of the momentum.

But old “Uncle Mo” can be a fickle old soul. The Lady Maroons battled back and outlasted UHA in the final set 15-13 to wrap up the 3-2 win.

Lily Hendricks and Beth Peebles had five aces each. Averie Turner had 4 aces. At the net the Blazers were led by Katie Beth Stevens with 10 kills and Meghan Adams with 9.

The lost, which was their second in their last three games, dropped the Lady Blazers to 15-7 on the season. They return to action this weekend at the Quad State Tournament at McCracken County.
